What to Expect in a Shiatsu Treatment
The client rests comfortably on a
mat on the floor, and an assessment
of the abdomen is completed to help
determine which areas of the body
are in need of treatment. Pressure
is applied to the meridians and
areas of the body which require
attention, and is tailored to the
individual client and their needs.
Generally the whole body is treated
(including hands, face and feet)
with concentration on areas of
concern. Every effort is made to
ensure the client is relaxed and
comfortable as this is an important
part of the treatment.
The client should wear loose, warm,
comfortable cotton clothing
(preferably no jeans), not be under
the influence of alcohol or mind
alterants, and refrain from eating a
large meal prior to treatment.
